2010 Clinic of the Year:
Mercy Medical Center in Canton, OH

Karli Kibler, Robin Bowman, RD, LD, and Kathy Wise from Mercy Medical Center accepted the 2010 Clinic of the Year Award from OPTIFAST Director of Sales Jim Seles
Mercy Medical Center was selected from among more than 400 OPTIFAST providers in the U.S. based on criteria that included year-over-year OPTIFAST program growth and a written essay that was judged on its originality, creativity, the candidate’s demonstrated use of the OPTIFAST programs and protocols and the candidate’s marketing of the OPTIFAST brand in 2010. Mercy Medical Center added nearly 300 new OPTIFAST patients in 2010, their first full year utilizing the program. Over 75% of the patients starting on the OPTIFAST full meal replacement program had excellent results.
As Kathy Wise, Director of Health and Wellness at Mercy puts it, “As I monitored our healthcare costs and our employees’ health issues, I determined that over $5 million dollars were being spent on diseases that are co-morbidities of obesity. Based on my prior experience with the OPTIFAST program, I knew starting an OPTIFAST program at Mercy would significantly reduce our obesity problem and have a positive impact on our healthcare costs.”
In just three months following the inception of the OPTIFAST program, Mercy Medical Center experienced reductions in prescriptions and medical costs related to the treatment of hypertension, hyperlipidemia and Type 2 diabetes among its employees.
Kathy, who also serves as the Director for the OPTIFAST program at Mercy Medical Center, and the entire team from Mercy Weight Management were recognized for their accomplishment among a group of their peers in Chicago, IL at the 2011 OPTIFAST Marketing Seminar.
