A physical therapist for more than a decade, Loran is a strong believer in the link between physical activity and emotional well-being. Active for as long as she can remember, Loran played soccer and swam competitively in college.
At a doctor’s visit in early 2014, Loran shuddered in disbelief when she stepped on the scale, weighing in at an all-time high of 240 pounds. Loran was face-to-face with the hard-hitting truth: she had ignored herself for the last two years amidst coping for the loss of her father.
That day, Loran made a commitment to rediscover her true self. As a healthcare professional, she was determined to find an evidence-based program that would support long-term weight loss and her active lifestyle. She chose the OPTIFAST® program after careful research and discussion with her doctors.
By week 16, she lost 48 pounds and finally started to feel like herself again. Empowered by the return of her love for an active lifestyle, Loran pushed forward to regain her health. By week 38, Loran achieved her weight loss goal of 100 pounds.
Loran has regained her health and feels her own lifestyle is back in line with the health information she shares with her patients, she feels renewed – in both mind and body. Loran’s journey has inspired her co-workers and patients alike to make a change and incorporate physical activity and exercise in their daily routine.
With her physical and mental health in harmony once again, Loran is training to hike Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
